Sirois C. Barker, founder of S.C. Barker Construction Company, comes from a long line of successful builders in the Southeast. In 1908, Will Barker pioneered a prosperous construction business in South Georgia. He provided his experience and abilities to many completed projects in the area, the most notable being the City Courthouse in downtown Valdosta, Georgia. Will's son, Finice, soon joined his father's company as apprentice, learning the necessary skills of the construction trade. Finice continued in the construction business, proudly welcoming the help of his young son, Sirois, in the 1950s.

As a teenager, Sirois continued working with and learning from his father until Finice's untimely death in 1961. Following graduation from Valdosta High School, Sirois studied Business Administration at the University of Tampa on a football scholarship, later transferring to Valdosta State College. Sirois left Valdosta to serve in Vietnam with the Navy Sea Bees as a member of the Construction Battalion. Following in his father and grandfather's footsteps, Sirois returned to Valdosta in 1965 to start his own construction business, S. C. Barker Construction Company, Inc.

In 1997, the legacy continued when Sirois' son, Kevin, joined the company after studying Building Science at Southern Polytechnic University in Marietta, Georgia.
