About the project

Valdosta-Lowndes County Library, officially renamed the Willis L. Miller Library, was a total interior build-out of an existing facility into a modern Library with many community spaces. The Library is situated in Valdosta, Georgia with urban residential neighbors. The project consisted of a large Main Stacks and Reading Area, Children’s Library, Teen/Young Adult’s Library, Community Center, Study Rooms, Genealogy Library, and Computer Lab. The Valdosta location also houses the central office for the South Georgia Regional Library System. The floating acoustical cloud ceilings are emulated through to the flooring simulating a quiet, peaceful ambiance for reading and studying throughout the main Library. The “round” features are also carried into the lighting, walls, storefront system, and the organization of the stacks and furnishings which helps direct a seamless circulation through the Library. The exquisite design and interiors were designed by BFB Gladwin Architects of Valdosta, Georgia.
